All About DIRAK: German Engineering at its Finest

Since the early 90s, DIRAK has been providing the industrial space with quality enclosure tools. From latches to gaskets, DIRAK products are renowned the world over for their quality, reliability and ease of use. And with their patented DIRAK-SNAP-Technology, installation is a breeze.

Founded by an incredibly talented and innovative German Engineer, DIRAK has proven time and time again that their products are a cut above the rest. MC Sales Solutions is proud to represent DIRAK in the South-Central region of the United States.

In this week’s blog post, we will go over DIRAK’s history, some of their products and how they can be the ultimate solution for your enclosure project.

Innovation is in Their Blood

DIRAK was founded in 1991 by German inventor and entrepreneur Dieter Ramsauer. The son of a tool maker, Ramsauer grew up in Velbert, a city in Bergisches Land in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. As a child Ramsauer was fond of playing in the scrap piles in Velbert. He would often assemble and disassemble the objects he found there, eventually leading him to build his own bicycle from spare parts.

This led him to a career in engineering. During his early years as an engineering professional, he developed a modularly designed quarter-turn in 1967 and a modular rod latch system in 1968. These products would later become staples for DIRAK.

In 1973, Ramsauer set up his own engineering office, where he designed many things including parts for a metal working company and developing innovative patents which were then licensed to the company where he was still work as a sales engineer. And in 1978 Ramsauer began work as an independent sales representative in Germany for industrial fittings.

With that experience, he founded his own company, DIRAK, or Dieter Ramsauer Konstruktionselemente. In German, this roughly translates to Dieter Ramsauer Construction Elements. Since it’s founding in the early 90s, DIRAK now has roughly six-hundred employees worldwide, four-thousand and five-hundred catalog products and more than four-hundred patents.

Unfortunately, Dieter Ramsauer passed away suddenly on April 23, 2021. He was 81. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in the company he founded and in the products that are used the world over.

Modular and Easy to Use

DIRAK prides themselves on their modular approach to product development. Their products can be combined like building blocks to customize and expand usability. One product can be combined with various inserts, housing lengths and cam profiles to fit a variety of applications, no matter how specific. Thanks to the flexibility of a standard cutout, if a customer needs to change a fastener, hinge, swinghandle, etc., they can do so without having to change the cutout. This allows for a much quicker turn-around.

Another benefit to using DIRAK products is the ease of installation. In fact, many of their products have tool-free connection technology allowing them to be quickly and easily installed. Fasteners such as bolts, washers and nuts are no longer required, eliminating the possibility of surface damage during installation, and saving a significant amount of time.

DIRAK-SNAP-Technology

We would be remiss to talk about DIRAK without talking about their DIRAK-SNAP-Technology, or DST. This innovative fastening technology combines flexibility, convenience and security all in an easy to install application.

A DIRAK-SNAP-Technology product can be mounted in seconds, without the use of tools, eliminating the risk of assembly errors. The product slides perfectly through a precisely cut panel cutout and snaps into position, creating a connection that is strong, secure and reliable.

In 2005, the DIRAK-SNAP-Technology won Ramsauer a nomination for “Engineer of the Year Award” by the American trade journal Design News. That same year it also won “Product of the Year 2005” award from the trade journal KEM Konstruktions.

In Conclusion

If what you are looking for are safe, reliable and easy to install hardware for your enclosures, look no further than DIRAK! With thirty years of experience and innovative designs, DIRAK is sure to be the enclosure solution you need.

And if you are located in the South-Central region of the United States, contact MC Sales Solutions for information on these amazing DIRAK products.
